BARNSLEY have signed young defender Kacper Lopata on a free transfer.

The 21-year-old Polish centre-back has signed a four-year deal with Michael Duff’s side.

Aged 17, he moved to premier League outfit Brighton and Hove Albion before moving to Sheffield United.

In September 2022 he signed for Southend United before leaving to help Woking to a fourth place finish in the National League.

The 6ft3 defender has represented Poland at all age groups from under 18s to under 21s.

He said: “It’s a great club to invest my future in.

“It’s got a great history of developing players and I thought I could do just that here.”
