A BARNSLEY man, who last month climbed Africa’s highest mountain, has raised over £5,000 for the Barnsley Hospital’s baby unit.
Dan Nestor, 26, climbed Mount Kilimanjaro in March, taking seven days to walk up the summit and one day to come back down.
Dan sais that the climb was ‘physically and mentally exhausting’ but also one of the best things he’s ever done – calling it ‘a real adventure’.
In January, Dan and his friend, Andy Kitchen, held a 24-hour live charity podcast, where they rated beers and interviewed guests, to raise funds for the same cause – the neonatal baby unit.
“Climbing Mount Kilimanjaro was probably one of the best things I’ve ever done – despite how challenging it was both physically and mentally,” Dan said.
“I would recommend the climb to anyone – it was brilliant and I loved every minute.”
Dan has raised £2,344 through the Just Giving page and another £3,000 from his workplace.
He will present the cheque to the charity next week.
