THE vandalism of a recently-installed statue in Elsecar has been branded as 'soul-destroying'.
Linda Webster, the chairperson of Friends of Elsecar Park, received a message on Tuesday morning letting her know that a recently-installed statue had been vandalised.
She said: “Someone has vandalised one of the three statues we’ve only just installed.
“There was an adult, a child and a dog because that’s what the park represents.
“Someone has obviously taken a dislike to the child as I believe they’ve decided to kick it and it’s come completely off its base.
“It must have happened between Monday night and Tuesday morning.
“It’s very frustrating as we used funding to commission these statues.
“It’s soul destroying.”
