GUESTS attended the first Great Get Together Christmas Superjam for three years at the Holiday Inn Barnsley on Tuesday.

There had been no Christmas Superjam since December 2019 due to the pandemic and 150 guests attended the hugely successful event.

Kathy Markwick, freelance community consultant, who organises the event, said:

“Our special guests were Col George Kilburn, Deputy Lieutenant, Sarah Jane Tattersall, Mayor of Barnsley and Christa Ackroyd.

“We would like to extend our thanks to the principal sponsors, Holiday Inn Barnsley and Haywood and Padgett’s Bakery, this month’s entertainment sponsor, Visiting Angels South Yorkshire and to Morrisons for their support.

“We have had amazing feedback and it was wonderful to see older people still taking tentative steps back into socialising following such a long period of lockdown.

“We had asked all our guests in advance if they would like to donate gifts and items for United for Ukraine, the local food bank and the raffle.

“They did not disappoint the table was literally heaving and we are extremely grateful for everyone’s generosity during these difficult times.”

The Superjam tea parties are held regularly andd aim to combat loneliness and bring people together.

The next Superjam is on Tuesday January 17, 2023, with entertainment from Joseph O’Brien.
