A GROUP of volunteers served a Christmas dinner to the town’s homeless on Wednesday.
Action for Barnsley Homeless, based on Sheffield Road, served food from their dining room cafe in a bid to reduce loneliness.
Barnsley Round Table, who make generous donations each year, hand delivered a cheque of £2,500 to help towards bills, food supplies and other essential items.
Volunteer, Jill Martin, told the Chronicle: “We’d been asking for donations of a variety of food items, and people have been so kind.
“We’ve had vegetables, a turkey, fresh fruit, we can’t thank everyone enough for their generosity.
“A big thank you to Barnsley Round Table, too.
“Everyone’s support has been amazing, we really appreciate it.
“We take pride in helping others and being available when people need us.”
