A LOCAL company have made plans to virtually cycle from their head office to Lapland as part of giving back to local charities.
Hickton Group, based at Amber Court in Elsecar, are hoping to raise £1,000 which will be divided between their chosen charities.
The staff have chosen The Rucksack Project – who aim to provide a hot meal and sleeping bags to the town’s homeless – as well as Heart Heroes, who work with children who live with a heart condition, and Eves Trust, who create dreams for families who’ve been impacted by terminal cancer.
Group administrator, Joe Grimwood, told the Chronicle: “Our HR administrator has worked with The Rucksack Project previously and one of our employees has a close relation with Heart Heroes and has a son who’s a big part of it.
“There are loads of charities we could have chosen and we’d love to give something back to them all if we could.
“Our plan is to virtually cycle from Elsecar to Lapland, which as the crow flies, is 2,065km.
“We are planning to rack up the miles throughout the day collectively.
“We’ve also set up a just giving page where people can donate if they wish.”
