A HOYLAND man has been arrested on suspicion of a number of thefts from motor vehicles.

The 32-year-old was arrested this morning, and remains in police custody.

Sergeant Kevin Jenkins, of the Barnsley South Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: “We are aware of local community concerns regarding a recent rise in vehicle crime and would encourage anyone who has been a victim to ensure it’s reported to police rather than just posting on social media.

“By reporting these incidents through the proper channels it helps us to build up a full picture of crime in the area and better combat it.

“We also would like to take this opportunity to issue a reminder to ensure your vehicle is locked and secure when it’s left unattended, so as to put off any opportunist thieves operating in your area.”
