A ROCK for Ukraine concert will take place in the town centre on Thursday.

The event will be held on the first day of the bank holiday for the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, at the Old School House.

From 2pm to 7pm, there will be live music, food stalls and a bouncy castle – with entry by donation on a ‘pay-what-you-can’ basis.

Local bands and artists playing throughout the afternoon include Besar, Shane Morrall, Stellavision, Del Scott-Miller, Cubic, Katrina Charles and Northbound and Down.

From 7.30pm onwards, the Old School House will host a special ticketed event, with Opus Kink, JT Wright and Cellar Thieves performing.

All funds raised will go to United for Ukraine Yorkshire.

Event organiser Paula Price-Davies said: “We are delighted that so many local acts and organisations have come together in such a short time, both to show solidarity for the Ukrainian people and to bring the community together at the start of this unique Bank Holiday.

“It is particularly great to be working with United for Ukraine Yorkshire, who are already making a real difference.”
