A BARNSLEY man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a man was shot in Sheffield earlier this month.

South Yorkshire Police were called at around 1.40am on Monday, February 7, following reports of an incident on Ecclesall Road.

The 20-year-old male victim was travelling in a black Lamborghini when shots were reportedly fired towards the vehicle.

He then fled towards Whirlowdale Road where he got into a white Rolls-Royce which had two people already inside.

The trio then drove towards Sheffield Rugby Club where they called emergency services – police attended the scene and the victim was taken to hospital after suffering serious injuries consistent with a firearm discharge.

On Saturday a 25-year-old man from Barnsley was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder – he has since been released on bail while enquiries continue.
