A ‘STUNNING’ oil painting is now on display at the Cooper Gallery.
The artwork, by John Atkinson Grimshaw, has been allocated by the government to the fine art collection at the town centre gallery.
‘A Carter Passing a Mansion at Dusk’ was chosen to head to the gallery due to the strength of the ‘already-outstanding’ collection of 19th century British artworks and landscapes.
Coun Tim Cheetham, cabinet spokesperson for place, said: “We are delighted to be the recipients of this important piece of artwork.
“It’s a fantastic addition to the gallery’s collection and it is wonderful that through this project people will have the opportunity to see and learn more about the work.”
