BUS strikes in Barnsley have now formally ended after Stagecoach drivers agreed to a ‘huge’ 10.7 per cent pay increase.
Unite, the union which has been working alongside the drivers, announced last week the bus strikes would be suspended - after talks were held with arbitration service ACAS - until a vote on the new conditions had commenced.
The results of the vote were announced on Friday after drivers ‘overwhelmingly’ voted to accept the offer.
Drivers will now see their hourly rate increase by more than £1 as from May the pay will go from £10.80 to £11.91 an hour.
