A YOUNG musician has won two awards at a national competition.

Tom Masters, 23, took the top spot at the Real Live Music Awards 2021 for the best original song with ‘Breakthrough’.

The young musician from Wilthorpe – who is a leading member of Barnsley Youth Choir – was also awarded with a special surprise award which was announced on the night, the dedication to music award.

“I think my initial response was my jaw nearly dropping all the way to the floor,” he said.

“Considering the incredible talent present amongst the other nominees, it was genuinely such a shock to walk away with any award at all, never mind to end up with two.

“The recognition serves as reassurance that I am seemingly doing something right with my music as I continue to work as hard as I possibly can to grow and progress with my music career.

“I have nothing but gratitude for my friends, family, and fans of my music who were kind enough to support me as amazingly as you did here and for all the support throughout the years.”
