FAMILIES across the borough could receive a boost this winter thanks to a support grant.
The Household Support Grant will be available for eligible households to buy food, pay essential bills, and meet other essential living or housing costs over the winter months.
Households that receive Council Tax support will be eligible to apply for the grant.
Vouchers will be issues to help with food and essentials, and financial support will be provided to help with fuel and bills.
Coun Jenny Platts, cabinet spokesperson for adults and communities, said: “It’s really important that we support households in our borough to be able to buy food, pay essential bills, and meet other living costs.
“The last 18 months have had a real effect on residents and families across Barnsley, and we welcome funding from the government that, alongside our own funding, will help those households that are struggling.”
