THE majority of the fires in Barnsley this week were started deliberately, new figures have revealed.
A total of six blazes were reported to South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue across the week - including two property fires.
Five of those fires were started deliberately.
On Monday night, three crews from Cudworth, Tankersley and Elm stations were called to a property fire in Worsbrough Common.
When they arrived on Mount Vernon Road, they found that a tumble dryer had accidentally caught fire.
They extinguished the blaze and left the scene at 11pm.
