A MAN who fatally attacked a 60-year-old in Barnsley town centre last month will be sentenced next week after he pleaded guilty to manslaughter.

On September 4 at 10.30pm, police were called following reports that the victim, Graham Linstead, had been attacked on Pitt Street.

Emergency services were also called and the man was taken to hospital where he died on September 8 as a result of his injuries.

A 38-year-old man, Ricky Braithwaite, of Newton Street, was arrested and initially charged with inflicting grievous bodily harm.

He appeared at Sheffield Crown Court on Tuesday and pleaded guilty to manslaughter.

He will be sentenced on Thursday.
