THE Reds will face League One outfit Bolton Wanderers in the first round of the EFL Cup tonight.
Kicking off at 8pm at the University of Bolton Stadium, Markus Schopp’s side will be hoping to go on a cup run.
Barnsley started their Championship campaign on Saturday with a well-earned point against Cardiff City in the Welsh capital, and fans will be hoping they can kick on tonight.
Bolton kicked off their season in similar fashion - though perhaps more spectacularly - with a 3-3 draw at home to MK Dons, in a game which saw the Trotters grab a 95th minute equaliser.
Schopp is expected to make changes for the game, stating that it is ‘very likely’ some of the players who missed out on Saturday will get a chance tonight.
Bolton were promoted last season from League Two, and have three former Reds in their ranks - Lloyd Isgrove, Gethin Jones and Declan John.
