A NEW set of police dogs will hit the streets of the borough after graduating from dog training school.
The five police dogs have been in training for 13 weeks and are now ready to take down criminals – as well as looking cute of course.
Police dogs Blue, Bart, Diesel, Louis and Marshall are general purpose dogs and assist with anything from finding missing people to locating stolen property.
Inspector Dan Garside presented the handlers with their certificates, he said: “Firstly I’d like to say a massive congratulations to all our duos. This course is not easy, but the months of hard work and training allows them to work together as a team and cement their bond.
“Police dogs are an absolute asset to the force; they are focused, hardworking, brave and exceptionally loyal.
“It cannot be underestimated how much they assist our investigations and help protect and reassure our communities, I’m looking forward to seeing what these guys achieve once they return to their teams and become operational.”
