NEW visiting restrictions at Barnsley Hospital’s maternity services came into force this week.
Women attending scan appointments will now have to take a coronavirus test 24 hours before visiting the ward as well as their birthing partners.
Any planned appointments or scans will now require evidence of a negative test in the last 24 hours before arriving at the hospital.
A spokesperson for the Barnsley Hospital said: “Pregnant women are recommended to undertake the twice-weekly rapid lateral flow tests as recommended by the government prior to community appointments.
“Unfortunately at this time, we are unable to make any changes to partners attending appointments in community settings, as the buildings are not under the ownership of Barnsley Hospital.
“We will however continue to monitor this position closely and will communicate any information as the situation changes.”
More information on the new restrictions can be found on the Barnsley Hospital website.
