BARNSLEY Hospital has revealed that more than 215 babies were born last month with more than half of the newborns being girls.

The midwifery unit at the hospital reveal monthly figures detailing the different types of births throughout the month.

The team reported that 219 women gave birth throughout April, with the busiest days being April 13 where 15 babies were born that day.

There were more girls born than boys, with 105 compared to 116.

During April, there were six water births, two home births, and two sets of twins were born.

The heaviest baby weighed ten pounds and six ounces, whereas the smallest was born at 14 ounces at 22 weeks.
