THIS week, more than ten fires have been reported to fire crews across the borough.
Thirteen fires were reported this week, which is an increase after 11 were reported the week before.
On March 30, five incidents were reported in a single night – the highest of the week.
At 7.50pm a crew from Cudworth station attended a rubbish fire on Upper Sheffield Road. At the same time, crews from Barnsley station were called to Pontefract Road to help put out an area of grassland that was alight.
At 9.20pm that same night a crew from Cudworth extinguished a settee that was set alight on Rotherham Road.
Dearne firefighters were called to Bramham Croft, Darfield at 1.40am in response to a car fire.
All these incidents are being treated as deliberate.
