A NURSE who came out of retirement to help staff at Barnsley Hospital has been rewarded with a random act of kindness for her hard work.

Sylvia Whittlestone, 78, has been a nurse for more than 60 years and has donned her uniform once again to help colleagues on Endoscopy.

She was surprised with some chocolate roses, and some perfume as a thanks for her hard work throughout the pandemic.

Sylvia said: “I love working, especially with these youngsters.

“They keep me young and active most of the time, when they’re not tiring me out.”
