POLICE conducted patrols around Penistone last night after reports of drug use in the area.
Officers from the Barnsley West Neighbourhood Policing team stopped and searched a young man in the Market Barn who was found to have a small amount of cannabis.
A spokesperson for the team said: “The lad received a sanction as a result of the search.
“Hopefully the knowledge we are out and patrolling helps residents feel that little bit more reassured.”
