Litter pickers from Wath have been granted funding to provide new equipment to help volunteers keep their local area tidy.

The Wath, West Melton, and Brampton Litter Pickers have recently collected 20,000 bags of litter from across the area.

They were granted funding from the council to privide seven industrial pickers, and 15 new hoops for volunteers.

Coun Denise Lelliot handed over the items on Thursday (February 18) as well as a large supply of daffodils which will be distributed around Brampton and West Melton.

Member of the group Kerry Bea said: “Another positive example of communities and groups working together to help make a difference and bring back that lost community spirit.

“So, if you were walking around Brampton or West Melton and have been handed a bunch of daffodils or found some on your doorstep. We hope they made you smile.”
