POLICE have warned lorry drivers that continue to ‘ignore’ width restriction signs on a Cudworth road that action will be taken.

Officers from the North East Neighbourhood policing team have received multiple reports from members of the public that lorries have been driving up Weetshaw Lane - despite the width restriction, which is clearly signposted.

A spokesperson for team said: “Weetshaw Lane is narrow in places, and these lorries have been causing obstructions and safety issues for those living on the road and have been impacting their quality of life.

“We have issued four fixed penalty notices in relation to this.

“Officers have also reported one male on summons for the offence of driving whilst on a mobile phone.

“The penalty for this is six points and a £200 fine.

“We are monitoring the situation and have plans for further operations.”
