POLICE have released CCTV images of two men they would like to speak to in connection to an attempted robbery in Goldthorpe.
On Sunday, January 24, two men reportedly entered the Mini Mart, Goldthorpe, walked up to the counter and sprayed an unknown substance into the shopkeeper's face.
The men also are reported to have hit the shopkeeper over the head with a bottle.
The men left the shop empty handed.
Investigating officer, Lauren Fletcher said: “This incident happened at around 6.55pm in the evening and we’re keen to hear from anyone in Goldthorpe who might have seen what happened.
“This was a really upsetting attack on someone who was just doing their day job in a local shop, we’re determined to trace those responsible. The shopkeeper, whilst not seriously injured, was left very distressed by what happened.
“As part of our enquiries we’re releasing CCTV images of two men we’d like to speak to in connection with our investigation. If you recognise them, or have any information about what happened, please do contact us.”
