STAFF at Barnsley Hospice’s retail hub has urged residents to halt donations during lockdown, as bags have started to mount outside the store.

The retail hub, of Fall Bank Crescent, Dodworth, has been forced to close due to the pandemic.

However, residents have continued to dump donations outside the hub, rather than wait for staff to return.

A spokesperson for Barnsley Hospice said: “No-one is here to take in donations and neighbouring businesses are concerned bags are being left outside.

“Please either save your donations for when we reopen, which would be much appreciated.

“Or, if you need them out of your way, please take bags of clothing, shoes to other charity banks at Barnsley Council recycling centres or in car parks across the borough.”
