AS part of Cervical Cancer Prevention Week, Barnsley Hospital has urged women not to be ‘put off’ from getting a lifesaving screening during the coronavirus pandemic.
The hospital are encouraging women to attend their cervical screening and smear test during the lockdown.
A spokesperson for Barnsley Hospital said: “Cervical screening can be lifesaving but it isn’t always easy, especially this year.
“We know that Covid-19 has created additional barriers and uncertainty for some people, and access to trustworthy support and information is more important than ever.
“Barnsley Hospital is backing Jo’s Cervical Cancer Trust because it wants everyone to know where to find support, information and tips about cervical screening (smear tests), and reliable resources about cervical cancer.”
Cervical Cancer Prevention Week runs until tomorrow.
