PUBLIC transport users across the borough are being urged to plan ahead and check before they travel as Storm Christoph could bring short notice changes or cancellations to South Yorkshire services.

The Met Office has issued an amber weather warning for rain in Barnsley, expected to bring widespread flooding to the borough.

South Yorkshire passenger transport executive’s, Pat Beijer, said: “Storm Christoph could see South Yorkshire public transport services subject to short notice changes or cancellations.

“With weather warnings in place across the region, we’re encouraging passengers, where possible, to stay at home and to stay safe.

“While every effort will be made to keep disruption to services to a minimum, where it is safe to do so, people that need to use public transport for essential reasons should take extra care, check for updates and plan ahead.”

Government advice during national lockdown restrictions is to stay at home where possible and only travel for essential reasons, including for work, education or to buy essential goods.
