FAMILIES of patients in Barnsley Hospital can now send messages to their loved ones to help cheer them up throughout their stay whilst non-essential visiting is suspended.
While the move was made to help protect staff and patients from Covid-19, the ban on non-essential visiting has caused families to miss out on visiting their loved ones while in hospital.
However, the hospital has now released a way for families to send personal messages to the hospital which will be printed onto rainbow message cards.
A spokesperson for Barnsley Hospital said: “At Barnsley Hospital we understand how difficult it must be for families and loved ones when they are unable to visit the hospital.
“In recent times this has been particularly evident when visiting was suspended due to the Covid-19 pandemic but we understand there are other circumstances that sometimes make it difficult for families and loved ones to visit the hospital.
“In these circumstances we want to support our patients and their loved ones as best we can to keep in touch.”
Messages can be sent via email, or phone, and video calls can be arranged.
To arrange a message, send the name of your loved one, the ward they are on, and your message to bhnftpatientexperience@nhs.net or phone 01226 436302.
