BARNSLEY College will reopen its doors today after the Christmas break to allow coronavirus testing on-site.

Students taking exams will return to the campuses next week, however vulnerable students and the children of key workers will be allowed to return from today (January 4) if arrangements have been made with their tutor.

Most students will return to learning on January 18.

The delay has been caused by the Covid testing site which will help test staff and students at the college to help prevent the spread of the virus.

A spokesperson for Barnsley College said: “Vocational exams will still go ahead in the first two weeks of January for all learners due to take them, including those who are not vulnerable.

“All students are being contacted with regards their return to face-to-face learning for the new term with the priority for on-campus teaching being vulnerable students or students in examination years, as per government guidance.”
