HUNDREDS of people were given their first dose of the coronavirus vaccine in Wath-upon-Dearne this week.
On Tuesday, December 22, the coronavirus vaccination programme got underway at Montgomery Hall as people waited to receive their jab.
John Healey, MP for Wentworth and Dearne, went along to the hall to show his support of the programme and the volunteers that have been administering the vaccine.
He said: “This was a huge day, and a chance to say thank you to the many people who have helped deliver the first vaccinations in the Dearne.
“The hope is that around 900 people will get the vaccine at Montgomery Hall in Wath-upon-Dearne over the next few days.
“Thank you to the NHS staff working behind the scenes, the nurses, GPs and practice managers doing this on top of their usual jobs.
“They’re all doing this because they know how important the vaccine is to protect the vulnerable and beat the virus.
“Wait for the NHS to contact you then please, have the vaccine to protect yourself and others.”
