AN INVESTIGATION has been launched after a property in Athersley South was burgled during the former occupant's funeral.
Police were called at around 4.55pm on December 8 following reports of three unknown offenders forcing entry to the address on Blackheath Close.
The offenders were then believed to have left the scene in a silver Vauxhall.
A spokesperson for South Yorkshire Police said: “No one was at the address at the time, we can confirm that it was sadly the day of the recently deceased occupant’s funeral.
“The family are being supported by officers during what has been a distressing incident for them.
“Enquiries are continuing at this time.”
