A CHARITY has thanked the kindness of volunteers who have helped to make a popular Christmas event a reality.
Every year, the Royston Salvation Army hold a Christmas Fayre to help provide presents to those who need it, and to help raise money to continue their work within the community.
However, due to the pandemic this year's event was cancelled.
That didn't stop one group of volunteers who run the 'Friends of the Salvation Army Royston' Facebook page who put together their own, online event to help raise money for the charity.
“I was shocked when they told me,” said commanding officer for the Royston branch, Terry Hendy. “The Christmas Fayre is a big event every year and we were all saddened that it wouldn't go ahead this year.
“However the friends of group have really pulled out all the stops to make it happen and we are all very grateful for their hard work.”
The event will be held as an online auction where people can purchase the items they would like.
The Christmas fayre will take place on Saturday (November 28) from 10am, and can be viewed on the Friends of Royston Salvation Army Facebook page.
