A POPULAR fast food chain has altered the opening times of its restaurants in accordance with new coronavirus guidelines.

McDonald's has announced that its restaurants will open at 5am and close at 10pm to keep inline with government guidance surrounding the coronavirus pandemic.

On Tuesday, Prime Minister, Boris Johnson announced that pubs and restaurants would have to close by 10pm to help limit the spread of the virus.

McDonald's, which is normally open 24 hours per-day, has announced it will follow the rules and close the restaurant at 10pm.

After 10pm, the chain has announced that 800 drive-thru lanes will remain open and McDelivery will be available.

The changes will affect the Mcdonald's in Barnsley Town Centre, on Old Mill Lane, and at Corton Wood.
