A NEW library management system which will improve the online experience is set to be implemented in the near future.

The new online catalogue, provided by Enterprise, allows library members to browse and request books easier - with more control of the library accounts, users are able to renew loans and manage their pin.

There will be disruption to Barnsley Libraries online resources from 7am on Monday to Thursday - public access to PCs and printing will be unavailable all week as the changers are made.

Coun Jenny Platts, cabinet spokesperson for adults and communities, said: “We continue to improve our library offer for residents so everyone can easily enjoy the wonderful resources we have on offer.

“The system downtime will cause disruption to our online offer for a few days, but the benefits that the new system will bring will make using digital resources a better, more enjoyable experience for library users.

“We apologise for any inconvenience caused and would really appreciate customers’ patience as staff work with a new system, so that everybody can benefit from the improved offer.”
