THE show should hopefully go on for a nursing home in Thurnscoe as staff appeal for costumes and fancy dress items to host this year’s socially-distanced pantomime.

The staff at Dearnlea Park Residential Home, on Park Road, will be performing in their own version of Cinderella this Christmas.

This is in a bid to entertain residents who would miss out on entertainment due to coronavirus regulations.

Kim Davies, the activities coordinator at the home, has appealed to local residents to help with costumes for the show.

She told We Are Barnsley: “We wanted to make residents smile after a difficult year for the home and workers.

“This way, we can keep residents safe and get them in the festive spirit.

“We’ve got staff from all over the home, including reception, catering and carers that will be playing the fairy-tale characters.

“We’re in need of any costumes including ball gowns, bridesmaid dresses, fairy wings and tiaras to make the show go ahead.

“We would really appreciate if people could help get behind the show and spread some positive cheer.”

If you can help with donations, take them to the reception at Dearnlea Park Residential Home.
