A BARNSLEY farm has had a makeover after winter flooding caused serious damage at the site.

Wigfield Farm, based in Worsbrough, was hit in November last year with severe winter floods that caused substantial damage to equipment and the property on the farm.

In a new project, improvements have been made to the playground, paths have been resurfaced and animal enclosures have been upgraded.

The farm, which is still set to reopen, will have new social-distancing guidelines in place and will boast more than 60 species of animals.

Peter Wood, land based industries head at Barnsley College, said: “I’m delighted the farm has been given a new look and it has its own character and appeal.

“We have taken our time to make sure our students continue to learn in top quality facilities when they join the Barnsley College this September.”
