POLICE have urged residents to be vigilant after a series of scam calls have been reported.

Scammers pretending to be from the HMRC have been reported calling from 07458391582 to attempt to extract money from vulnerable people.

PC Bev Frisby from the Barnsley North Area Team, said: “The scammers may tell you they are from HMRC and that you will be arrested for unpaid taxes.

“This is not the Inland Revenue, it is a well-known scam and there is no case against you.”
