LOW-INCOME families could be eligible for council initiatives which are available to individuals and families who have been affected by the coronavirus pandemic.

To help ease the impact of the pandemic on low-income households, the government created a £50m hardship fund.

Barnsley Council worked with Berneslai Homes to offer different schemes to meet the needs of the public.

The support covers a variety of areas such as referrals to food banks and rent top-ups.

One of the initiatives is the Local Welfare Assistance scheme which could help make referrals to food banks, or provide tokens for gas and electricity.
