A MOBILE coronavirus testing centre will be available in Mapplewell.

The testing site will be in the car park of Mapplewell and Staincross Village Hall and will be available all week.

Nick Hibberd, manager of the village hall, wanted to assure the public that there has not been a Covid spike in the area.

“The testing site does not mean we have had a Covid spike in the area,” he said. “We were approached by Barnsley Council to see if they could put a testing centre in the car park as part of a reactive operation designed to provide tests across Barnsley.”

People being tested will not have access to the main building or toilets and the entrance to the Leap Ahead Day Nursery will not be affected.

The testing centre will be open from 10am to 4pm every day from Wednesday to Sunday this week.
