A LOCAL animal rescue charity has urged pet owners to keep their dog on a lead after dog owners have warned of dangerous spikes on a popular walking route.
Dog owners have reported seeing a wooden plank with screws sicking out of it on the path through the Trans Pennine Trail in Worsbrough.
Kerry Flood, manager at Barnsley Animal Rescue Charity said: “If a dog stands on one of the nails it could cause serious damage to its paw.
“I would urge dog owners to keep their dog on a lead and be on the look out for anything on the path that could cause your pet injury.”
