BARNSLEY Council has announced even more libraries are set to reopen in the coming days.

Across the borough, libraries have continued to open their doors following social distancing guidelines.

Last week, libraries including Library @ the Lightbox, Royston and Penistone announced an opening.

Now, the libraries in Athersley, Worsbrough, Darfield, Grimethorpe, Thurnscoe, Dodworth, Mapplewell and Cudworth are set to open this week.

Coun Jenny Platts, cabinet spokesperson for adults and communities, said: “Once again we can open more of our community libraries thanks to residents following government guidelines and using our facilities safely.

“We are looking forward to our libraries being able to offer more of their regular services as our phased reopening progresses and would like to thank our residents for their patience.”

Residents are asked to still follow social distancing measures in libraries and adhere to guidelines to keep both staff and visitors safe while visiting.
