A POSTMISTRESS has launched a chat line for her regular customers in self-isolation during the coronavirus outbreak.

Jackie Parkinson, who runs the branch on Huddersfield Road, was inspired into action over fears her regulars might be experiencing loneliness.

The post office is now closing from 3pm everyday, and instead Jackie is opening her phone lines for people to contact her if they need any information or just to hear a familiar voice.

She said: “I’m doing this for my customers who I’ve grown close to over the last 20 years at the post office.

“A lot of our regulars come in once or twice a week, so we wanted to give something back to them.

“What else am I going to do when I finish work? I just want to do what I can to make sure our customers are safe but don’t feel lonely at home.

“We would love for people to give us a call, and have a chat if they need it.”

To get in touch, call 203578 from 3pm to 5.30pm every day.
