GREGGS and KFC are the latest fast food chains to announce its closure amidst the coronavirus epidemic.

In a statement released today, the bakery said that their stores will from tomorrow to 'maintain social distancing'.

Barnsley has several franchises across Barnsley including three in Barnsley town centre, Wombwell Lane, Old Mill Lane and High Street Wombwell.

Their statement added: "Whilst our shops will be temporarily closed, our dedication to our community won't stop.

"We'll continue to provide support to our local communities by distributing any remaining unsold food and offering support for those in hardship through the Greggs Foundation."

KFC has also announced their stores will close by Wednesday.

It's statement said: "It's not a decision we've taken lightly, but it's in the interests of our incredible teams and all the fans that love our chicken."

Barnsley has three franchises, one on Peel Street, Dearne Valley Parkway and Wakefield Road.
