BARNSLEY Council has secured the conviction of four people as the crackdown on blue badge misuse continues.

John Fletcher, of Sheffield Road in Langsett, pleaded guilty to fraudulently using an expired blue badge while parked on Shambles Street in Barnsley town centre and was consequently fined £146 and ordered to pay £382 in additional costs.

The second prosecution saw 45-year-old Rachel Mansell, of Neville Close, Wombwell, plead guilty to fraudulently using a blue badge after parking on St Mary’s Gate.

Mansell was also fined £146 and was ordered to pay additional costs of £382.

Peter Walker, 33, of Strafford Walk in Dodworth, was found guilty of fraudulently using the badge, without the holder being present and so was find £220 and has to pay additional costs of £382.

The final prosecution saw 43-year-old Shelley Carlile, of Chatsworth Road in Athersley South, fined £40 for using the badge without the holder present.
