POLICE have issued an appeal after a man tried to rob a 73-year-old man of a car.

At 1.30pm on Friday May 3, the 73-year-old victim left an address and reversed his car off the drive way on to Barnsley Road, Darfield.

It’s reported that a man approached the driver’s door and made threats, demanding that the elderly man got out of his car so he could take it. The man, assisted by two passers-by, refused.

A police spokesman said: "We are now looking to speak to this man, captured on dash-cam footage, who they believe can help with their enquiries. Do you recognise him? Did you see him in the area on May 3?

"If you can help, please call 101 quoting incident number 632 of 3 May. Alternatively, you can report information anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."
