STAGECOACH has announced extra journeys on two routes tomorrow while rail strikes are in force.

The X10 between Barnsley and Leeds and the X17 between Barnsley, Meadowhall, Sheffield and Chesterfield will be running every 30 minutes every Saturday while rail strikes are scheduled, starting from tomorrow.

Stagecoach’s X10 Express service runs from Barnsley via the motorway into Leeds, stopping off at New Lodge, Darton and Kexborough. The X17 runs between Matlock, Chesterfield, Sheffield, Meadowhall, Barnsley.

Commercial director at Stagecoach John Young said: “With Northern Rail announcing yet more strike action, currently extended to every Saturday in January, we have decided that travellers deserve better. We’re pleased that we’ve been able to double our frequency on two of our most popular services.”
