BARNSLEY Museums’ volunteers have dedicated over 76,000 hours of volunteering time across the museum’s five sites, worth £1,028,272 since 2018.
The Museums are celebrating the 40th anniversary of Volunteering Week which runs until Monday.
Volunteering is vital to the work of Barnsley Museums and provides opportunities for people to learn new skills, support wellbeing, socialise, and connect with their community.
Due to the hard work and commitment of volunteers, Barnsley’s heritage and natural assets have been enhanced in many ways, making them attractive places to discover and explore.
Jon Finch, Head of Culture and Visitor Economy, said: “We’re proud to be celebrating the hard work of our dedicated volunteers during this special anniversary week and would like to offer them our sincerest thanks. Volunteering is hugely important and really enhances our borough, making it an even more special place to live, work, visit and learn. We would love more people to get involved and help make a difference in our communities.”
