ONE of the leading Britpop bands of the 1990s will be heading to the Birdwell Venue this summer.
Birmingham indie rockers Ocean Colour Scene had a number one album in 1997 and hit the top ten singles chart on six occasions.
The group, fronted by Simon Fowler, were contemporaries of Oasis’ Liam and Noel Gallagher at the height of their fame and regularly played alongside them.
They have not released an album since 2013 but are back out on tour and will be in Birdwell on July 12 – weeks after performing at Glastonbury.
Another legend of 90s music, Levellers, will be performing the week after with shows on July 19 and 20.
