ASPIRING make-up artists at Barnsley College have raised hundreds of pounds for a cancer charity in honour of their own families.

The group of 15 Make-up Artistry students raised a total of £410 with a classy fundraiser for Cancer Research UK.

The event at the college’s New Image salon was in honour of their families as they say cancer touches so many lives, including their own.”

Attendees were greeted with cakes and prosecco and offered professional makeovers, brow make-up artistry, henna tattoos and other treatments.

Students Maisie Bean, Maja Sitarz, Casey Willis, Kadie Beadling, Skye Mulligan, Lewis McGuffie, Jessica Copley, Charlotte Jonas, Rachel Jones, Eleanor Santiago-Martin, Dorian Bradder, Evie Wass, Molly Wragg, Holly Wright, and Emily Palmer ran the event with the support of tutor Shona Khan.

Maisie shared how she was fundraising for her mum, Skye for her grandad, Maja for her great grandmother, Charlotte for her grandad, Eleanor for her auntie and Jessica for her grandad.

Student Maisie said: “The event went really well. Everyone worked well together and had a chance to show off their skills while educating people who came in about what we were doing and why.

“Everyone had the chance to hear our story of why we were raising money and how cancer has affected all of our lives.

“We’ve raised £410 and we’re all very happy with what we have achieved. I’m very proud of all of us and what we’ve managed to raise.”

Tutor Shona added: “I couldn’t be prouder of my students for taking the initiative to organise a make-up event to raise funds for cancer research.

“Their compassion, creativity, and dedication to making a difference is truly inspiring.”
